Ethiopia is an ancient country whose unique cultural heritage, rich history and remarkable diversity are reflected in a tally of nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites – more than any other country in Africa. Within its borders, you’ll find the world’s fourth-holiest Islamic city, along with as the oldest continuously-occupied town south of the Sahara. Add to this the beautiful Simien and Bale Mountains, the spectacular volcanic landscapes of the Danakil Depression, and a wealth of mammals and birds found nowhere else in the world, and it’s little wonder that Ethiopia has become the most attractive and popular emergent tourist destination in Africa.

    Speaker:

Avraham Rabinovitch, Author of ‘The Travel Guide to Ethiopia, and  the CEO of: Avrish – Ethiopia – on your way

Facebook’s Community Managers Group is celebrating a year’s activities by a thousand community managers along with Facebook’s global Community Leadership Circles. The program operates in 47 countries, in 109 different cities.

The panel will feature prominent Facebook tourism community managers and bring successful case studies on how tourism can be leveraged through communities.

The event is aimed not only at Facebook group community managers but at the tourism industry, which faces advertising challenges through pages that now receive very low organic exposure. Through Facebook activity groups, the brand can be reinforced at lower costs than costly campaigns through pages. The target audience for the panel are private tourism offices and government tourism bureaus who want to target and reach a targeted audience found in communities. The panel will analyze trends in the communities around the world and see how companies and government organization are courting community managers, providing examples from the panel members and other case studies we will present at the event. Community managers are the high-quality influencers today who can bring the exact target audience to the client.

The Dutch province of Brabant recognized the marketing opportunity and is working to develop and brand a tourism product around the painter Vincent Van Gogh. The presentation will include an analysis of their activities, within the framework of the Regional Tourism Organization, and the Van Gogh Sites Foundation, which work to reduce overcrowding in Amsterdam, and achieve a more efficient and sustainable geographical and seasonal distribution.

    Participants:

    • Frank van den Eijnden, CEO Van Gogh Brabant
    • Heleen Huisjes, CEO, Visit Brabant

The lecture is intended to expose managers, owners and various corporate leaders to the importance of collaboration with startups and other external entities, such as academia and other corporations, in order to enable corporations to keep up with technological changes.

The lecture exposes the corporate representatives to what happened to corporations who did not keep up with the change (IE. Thomas Cook, Nokia, Agfa and others), under the clear message that “what was – will not continue”, meaning that organizations must move forward, change and adapt in order to keep up the rapid technological change. Internal innovation departments simply do not have the tools, nor the ability survive in this changing world without the assistance of startups.

During the lecture, Mr Green will present corporations that have changed industries significantly thanks to their reliance on advanced technologies and will present examples of possible future competitors that corporations might not have imagined that would disturb the industry.

The lecture includes a presentation of the Startup Nation and the travel international corporations who choose to come to Israel in order to get their hands on the next Waze. Mr Green will explain why they choose to come to Israel as the TravelTech Nation, and what makes the perfect place in order to innovate.

The lecture presents the challenges of integrating innovation in large organisations and offers various helpful tips for tackling the challenges in order to integrate innovation successfully.
